Much of our work is project work relating to high volume upgrades and installations. We are highly experienced in scripting upgrade packages for large scale, high impact rollouts.

This project involved upgrading over 300 NT4 servers running SQL 6.5 to Windows 2003 Server with SQL 2000. Much of the work was developed with Windows 2003 beta code in close corporation with Microsoft.

The servers ran a number of 32 bit and 16 bit proprietary applications. During the upgrade a number of the applications where also upgraded, and the database structure had to be significantly changed.

The complexity was further increased as the servers were spread throughout the United Kingdom and the on-site engineers were of a relatively low skill set.

This project involved porting existing proprietary English applications, from NT4 SQL6.5 to Korean Window 2000, SQL 2000. An automatic process was devised that enabled Korean engineers to build a fully commissioned server by just entering required information at a screen prompt. The process fully configured the RAID arrays, installed and configured the operating system then installed and fully configured all applications and utilities.

This project involved the management and technical remote support fora team of engineers who where following a semi automated upgrade of a database and associated applications.

The method entailed the removal of the main system disks, leaving data and a physical backup of the database on the remaining RAID array. We then introduced a new set of disks, and restored and upgraded the original database and scheme.

The process was repeated over several weeks upgrading almost 300 servers in total.
